We are always interested in buying record collections of any size as well as flyers, photographs, paper and ephemera of all kinds especially relating to music, film, art and counterculture with a particular interest in items related to the Pittsburgh region. No collection is too big or small, we buy collections of 100-200 records on a weekly basis and have bought collections larger than 100,000 records. Mind Cure Records is owned and operated by Mike Seamans. He has been a familiar face in the record selling world since 1999 when he began manning the counter at Pittsburgh institution Paul’s CDs. He opened his own shop, Mind Cure Records, in 2009 in Polish Hill and built a strong reputation for maintaining an inventory of rare records across many genres with a specialty in Punk/Hardcore, Jazz and Psych. The physical store was sold in 2016 to free up time and flexibility to travel outside of the Greater Pittsburgh area to purchase record collections. After 5 years without a physical retail space Mike, partnered with two other people, helped open Fungus Books in 2021. The shop is located at 700 1/2 S Trenton Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15221. He maintains a small selection of records for sale there, but continues to travel extensively to pursue record collections. For the right records no distance is too far, but he regularly travels as far south as North Carolina and north to Connecticut to purchase records. A Visual history of the explosive pittsburgh underground (1979 - 1994)

The late ‘70’s underground music scene in Pittsburgh wasn’t as iconic as New York City, notorious as Chicago, tightly knit as Chapel Hill or wildly stratospheric as Seattle. But that didn’t mean it was the providence of grossly self-important cover bands with trucks festooned with “WDVE Rocks” bumper stickers. Fortunately for us, Erik Bauer had been supporting and documenting the city’s punk/indie community since 1979. Armed with his trusty Nikon FM (and the occasional recording device), he kept visual and sonic tabs on a local scene teeming with creativity, determination and a fighting spirit in the face of a local media that simply cared less. Thanks to super-fan Bauer’s tenacity, underground legends such as Carsickness, the Five, Cardboards, Half Life, the Cynics and many others are gathered in this photo collection of the city’s cool rockin’ underdogs. And if those names don’t mean anything to you, go back to your classic-rock comfort zone: Because what this book succinctly proves is that you really HAD TO BE THERE.
